News and reports of CCSS's progress - Noemi's Story
Noemi
Noemi's mother was only 16 years old when Noemi was born and fortunately
she has a faithful husband who has not only stood by her but has been
extremely supportive through the whole ordeal, including Noemi's operation.
Noemi was one of the most distraught children we have ever seen. There
were very few moments when she was not in a frightened state. If she had
not come from such a good family environment, I am not sure she would have
survived long enough for her to have her operation.
I read recently some of the latest research into the psychology of the unborn
child in the womb. It said that after the third or fourth month there is what
they call a "mirror effect" of the emotions of mother and child. Most often
the child will be affected by the emotional state of the mother but then at
other times the mother will mirror the emotions of the child.
Today the mirror of emotions of mother and daughter is more evident than ever.
It would be hard to be around Noemi for very long without having a very broad
smile on your face. She spreads joy and happiness wherever she is. We never cease
to be amazed at the change that has taken place since the first time we saw her.
You can be an important part of the bridge that brings these families from despair
to hope for the future.
